If you don’t want to feel guilty, book your vacation trips by Halloween and you’ll be rewarded with low airfares that haven’t been seen in years. An online travel booking service recommends this.
Travel costs are dramatically lower this year as the coronavirus pandemic has made fewer people willing to make their traditional trips home or be with loved ones.
The service, Hopper, says in its 2020 Holiday Guidance Report that only 39% of respondents say they want to travel this year and 55% of them say it will be their first trips since the pandemic began.
Other surveys have found the percentage of holiday travelers to be relatively low this year. AAA’s survey found that 67% are unsure about taking a vacation and a travel site. Travelocity found that 57% say they do not go on vacation at all.
The advice to reserve by Halloween is roughly on par with the advice of some other major travel websites. For example, Expedia says the better rates are for those who book 30 to 60 days before Thanksgiving or the year-end holidays.

Hopper says those who take the advice to book by Halloween are less likely to be scared by higher airfares. The website found that airfares will drop about 40% year over year to an average of $ 173 for Thanksgiving and $ 222 for the year-end holidays.
Those who choose to stay in hotels rather than with family or friends will find bargains too, says Hopper. The prices over the holidays are usually 8% to 10% lower than the daily rates.

Dallas, Miami and Tampa, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee and Philadelphia are top Thanksgiving destinations, according to Hopper. For the holidays at the end of the year, in addition to Houston and Orlando, Florida, Dallas, Tampa and Miami are also on the list.
For those looking for vacation spots to vacation, Expedia says people are usually prone to extreme temperatures.
