Escape: Mackay journey company charters direct NT flights
The perfect opportunity to escape Queensland and help a Mackay business has arrived.
If Uluru is on your bucket list, you can now fly direct from Mackay.
Travel Associates Mackay is the first travel company to operate charter flights direct to Uluru.
“COVID-19 and the subsequent closure of national and international borders meant that we had to think outside the box and create travel opportunities for our customers,” said Debbie Rains, owner of Travel Associates Mackay.

“That’s why we’ve put together a comprehensive weekend that flies direct from Mackay to Uluru so you don’t have to travel to another city.
“This not only maximizes your weekend at the Red Center, it also increases your safety.”
Uluru weekend will leave Mackay on Friday November 20th and return on Sunday November 22nd.
It includes a two-night stay at Sails in the Deserts with a sunrise and base tour of Uluru and the Field of Dreams art installation.
There is also the possibility to experience the Sounds of Silence Dinner.
The art installation Field of Light, a global phenomenon by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro, has returned to the place that inspired it – Uluru. The British artist developed the idea at Uluru in 1992 after eight years in Australia. Paths draw the viewer into the installation, which comes to life under a radiant sky. DAY BY DAY DISTRIBUTION
First day – Friday
Your flight departs Mackay at 10.30am with Alliance Airlines before arriving in Uluru at 1.10pm.
Stay two nights at Voyages Sails in the Desert. The rest of the day is free to explore the hotel and / or the national park. Take part in the hotel’s free guest activity program in Tour Square. Book a spa treatment at the Red Ocher Spa, relax by the pool, or book a tour of the Tourist Information Center in the town square.

Second day – Saturday
Uluru Sunrise and Base Tour (5 hours). From the Uluru sunrise, watch the horizon change color before the first rays of sun break through. When the sun hits the horizon, light shoots through the desert. Uluru sits in an endless sea of red dunes.
Guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole. The tour shows the ancient Aboriginal rock art, the desert flora and world and the indigenous history of this sacred site.
Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Center to learn about the Tjukurpa, or Aboriginal, law that governs this culture before heading for the ultimate souvenir.
Field of Light Star Pass (1.5 hours): When it gets dark, 50,000 glass balls are gently brought to life. Under a star-filled sky, Field of Light invites you to explore the rhythms of colored light and lose yourself for a moment.

Day three – Sunday
Alliance Airlines takes off from Uluru at 2pm and arrives in Mackay at 5.40pm.
