ALPENA – The Alpena Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has released five limited edition postcards that shoppers can collect when they shop at participating businesses in the city center during the holiday season.

There are five unique designs with festive scenes in downtown Alpena and Christmas messages. Some designs are rarer than others. So come downtown and shop and try to collect all five designs this holiday season.

This promotion will run while stocks last at each of the 17 participating companies: Chippewa Valley Mercantile & Leatherworks; Alpena Salt Spa; Soaps and such; Alpena Vintage Company; HeartMind Center; Family business; Northern Eye / Northern Eye Optical; Tour guide; 45 books and gifts in parallel; Classic designs by Doreen Thomas; Rusty Petunias Marketplace; Myers’ Fashions Etc .; Olivet Book and Gift; United Way of Northeast Michigan; Ellie & Company hair; My glass wings; and Emery Enterprises.

“The purpose of this promotion is to promote downtown shopping in a fun and festive way.” said DDA marketing and public relations coordinator Kingsli Kraft. “Many people may not be able to travel to see their families during this year’s vacation. Therefore, this campaign is also an opportunity for people to send their relatives a bit of Alpena and a bit of home this year.

“Our downtown theme this holiday season during our promotions is to find wonders in the simple things and the little moments, and sending a lovely postcard to a relative is a great way to spread a little wonder and holiday joy.” Kraft added.
