Coroanvirus Vaccine and Journey: UK turns into the primary nation to approve COVID-19 vaccine; many Indians making an attempt to book a UK journey
In a historic medical breakthrough, the UK became the first country in the world to approve a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer Inc and its German partner BioNTech SE. According to government reports, the vaccine will be available in the UK from next week. The UK government approved the vaccine and made the announcement.
Shortly after the vaccine news hit the internet and other media outlets, it was reported that a number of Indians were calling travel agents to arrange their UK tickets for the vaccine.
PTI reported that a Mumbai-based travel agent told them on Wednesday that a number of Indians had asked questions about how, when and if they could travel to the UK for vaccination purposes. Some well known travel booking companies in India are still waiting for more clarification from the UK government. Nothing is currently clear about the quarantine requirements or whether or not Indians in the UK can be vaccinated at all.
In the meantime, the UK mass vaccination campaign is slated to begin next week. A UK government statement said: “The government today accepted the recommendation from the Independent Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) to approve Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine. This follows months of rigorous clinical trials and a thorough analysis of the data by experts at MHRA who have concluded that the vaccine meets its stringent safety, quality and efficacy standards. ”
The UK has reportedly ordered doses of the two-shot vaccine sufficient to vaccinate 20 million people. The Pfizer BioNTech companies have also signed contracts to deliver hundreds of millions of recordings to Europe, the US, Japan and other countries.
The major news is a glimmer of hope as the whole world battles the coronavirus pandemic and looks for ways to stop it from spreading.
